Trust (Chapter 13)

Think of a group you've belonged to that had the greatest trust among members. Why were people willing to trust each other in that group? How did this trust develop?

I would like to think of this group more of a team than a group. It is me and two of my best friends who work well together. It is crusial that we work well together in order to continuse to make it through life I truly believe. We are all willing to trust each other because we have always worked together and are friends and if you can't trust your friends then who can you trust. The trust developed over us just being around each other and respecting each other.

Group (Chapter 13)

This group is excelent. They are understading and do not get mad at each other for crazy reasons. We all pull our weight and do excatly what we agreed would be done. If one of us can not attned a class meeting or a group meeting we let the others know so that they will not think that we are just skipping out on them. I have really enjoyed working with this group and look forward to the rest of the term and seeing how well it works out.

Group (Chapter 12)

I realyl have nothing bad to say about my group. Every class that I have had with Marie I have been in her group so we know how the other is and how to work together, I was in a group with Kaylee previously and we worked well together, this is the first time I have worked with Jade but he is doing a good job. I have injoyed the way we work together so far and hope it continues to go this well.

Conflict (Chapter 12)

Imagine you run into the person with whom you are most in conflict. What do you do and say? Are you satisfied with the encounter? Is there anything you'd like to do differently?

If I run into someone I am in conflict with I try to igonre them because I hate conflict and drama it just is not worth my time of energy. It is best if you just let things be and work themseleves out and you will have a happier healthier life. If i get away from the encounter without any or little drama as possible then I am happy. I would only do something different if I had to confront the person and ended up with a drama filled day, in that case I would have just avoided them to keep from having drama.

Group (Chapter 10)

Working in this group has taught me alot. I have learned not to let how I feel about people get in the way of doing a project and getting it done right. I may not like everyone in my group but, I put all of those feelings aside to do work and make sure everyone gets a good grade. That is how it should be in a group setting, you shouldn't let personal feelings get in the way of your work.

Problem solving (Chapter 10)

Describe exactly what you do when you have a problem to solve. How well does this procedure work for you?

When I have a problem I try to weight my options and analyze all possible outcomes of the situation. I want to make the right choice that will not hurt me or anyone that is close to me. So far this procedure has worked well for me. I tend to make mote sound and just choices when I take the time to weight in on the situation and the outcome of my actions.

Group (Chapter 11)

Working in a group teaches you a lot. It teaches you responsibilty more than anything because you are in a group and your work reflects not only you but the other members of your group. I think that I got a good group that works well together and thinks of the rest of the group. We do not make a decision without contacting the other members and making sure everyone agrees with it.

Consensus (Chapter 11)

Of the three types of decision making (consensus, majority vote, vote by leader), which do you prefer and why?

I prefer the consensus decision, a choice that all group members agree is the best on that they can all accept. I like this one the best because it is a decision that is made by all group members saying that they agree this can work. I believe this is the best way to work in a group because everyone should be able to have a voice and that voice be heard and took into consideration.

Group (Chapter 9)

I really enjoy working with my group. We all work well together and everyone gets the job done. If one of us will not be around we take responsibility and let the others know what is going on and why that person will not be in attendance. Everybody has pulled their weight and cooperated well with each other so far.

Leader (Chapter 9)

If everyone in the group is responsible for how the group functions, what do you think the leader should do?

I believe that leader should be responsible for keeping the group on track and for making sure that the group members get along well together. I think that in every group it should be the groups responsibility to do the work together but there needs to be one person in the group to just oversee and make sure everything gets done on time and everyone works well together.

Group (Chapter 8)

Sometimes just certain things can get on my nerves. I think that if we set a deadline then the deadline should be kept. Sometimes people in the group don't post their blogs on time and it reflects the rest of the group. I know it is hard to do the blogs sometimes but an effort should be made in order to do them and do them like we are supposed to.

Team Building (Chapter 8)

If you were designing a team building activity for your classroom group, what would you include and why?

If I was designing a team building activity for my group I would do a game called Figures, which is where the 4 of us would be blindfolded and would have to work together to make a circle, a infinite figure, and a square. While making each shape there is one person that goes along the inside of the others and forms the shape. Everyone has to work together in order to get the right shape, the leader can not make it without the help of the others talking him/her through. I would pick this because it is a good unity building game that shows people how to communicate with each other in order to be a successful group.

Group (Chapter 7)

My group is working well together still. We all came together and brainstormed and came up with our contract and questions for our survey. We decided on who would type it up for us and how the survey should be conducted. We have two members who live here on campus and two who commute and are only here on Tuesday/Thursday so we try to get what needs to be done finished in or right after class. This works because at least we all know that the work is getting done.

Hardest Part (Chapter 7)

What is the hardest thing for you when you are a member of a group that is being observed?

To me the hardest thing is to have to be in front of people talking. I HATE to gt in front of a crowd and talk about something, it just is not in me. I freak out and talk really fast and not very clear. I have always had a phobia about getting in front of crowds to talk. I have always hoped that it would go away but it has not, if anything I think that it gets worse over time.

Group (Chapter 5)

So far I have to say that I like my group. We all take on our responsibilities and get the job done. Each person withing my group pulls his/her weight and does their job. I am impressed at how we all come together and work even though outside the group we may not get along as well as we should. Sometimes people need to realize that not everyone is as bad as they seem and just because you do not like a person does not mean that you should shun them and make them feel unwanted.

Grades (Chapter 5)

How do you feel when you have to share a grade with other members of the group? Do you prefer to be rewarded for your own work, or as a member of a group? Why?

I feel comfortable sharing my grade with others if they are pulling just as much weight within the group as I am. I think that when choosing groups to be in everyone should consider the factors of rather or not the people they are choosing will do the job and do it well, not be slackers and take advantage of the others. When a teacher tells you to get into groups it is your responsibility to pick group members so therefore you should suck it up and take the grade together as a group. In my opinion group work is to be done together as a group not on your own so why would you want to take the grade on your own. No one person should be held at a higher standard.

Withdrawn Members (Chapter 6)

How do you handle a member who is withdrawn and quiet in a group? What are your feelings about such members?

If there is a member of the group that I am in is withdrawn or quiet I try my best to get them involved in the group. I am willing to do anything to make the person feel comfortable and like they belong so that they will participate and have fun. I don't have any different feelings for a member like that than I would for a member that is active, normally is a member is withdrawn it is because they don't feel wanted. Each of the other members should do their part in helping that member out.

Group Size (Chapter 6)

What size group are you most comfortable with, and why?

To me the smaller the group the better. I tend to be a bit claustrophobic and uncomfortable around a large group of people so I just prefer smaller groups. It is easier to me to get the task done in a smaller group because you do not have to contend with a lot of different people. You get more hands on and more interaction when you keep it small I think no more than 5 people is a good group once you start getting more it just gets complicated.

Male Frustrations (chapter 3)

For Women: What kinds of "typical male" behaviors frustrate you the most, and why?

When a male thinks that he is better and can do the job better just because he is male that really bothers me. I have been in groups were all the guys would make the decisions simply because they thought that the females of the group were incapable of making good choices. Just because you are a male of a female does not mean that the other sex is incapable of doing the job just as good as you are.

Physical Appereance (Chapter 3)

How does some one's physical appearance (i.e. clothing, hairstyle, body shape, and size, posture, etc.) affect your perception of and feelings about that person?

How someone dresses, fixes their hair affects my perception a whole lot more than how big or small they are or how they stand. A person weight of posture does not bother me but when they start dressing weird or whoreish that bothers me. Peoples hairstyles are something that is important to me I like hairstyles and that is probably the first thing I notice on a person. If the hair is a mess then I think they are a mess, if the hair is nasty then I think the person is nasty. A persons hair can be extremely important in how i perceive them. Their clothes come in second because I think some one should not dress like a slut other than that wear whatever you want to make you comfortable but in girls or guys I don't care to see your butt nor any private part of your body.

Now you got me wanting a haircut. Thanks Jen lol

Techniques (Chapter 2)

What techniques do you use when you are trying to remember what someone tells you?

I try to just listen carefully and pick out key words that will help me remember what is being said. Sometimes if something funny is said it helps me remember the whole conversation that is going on, because I will go back to the funny moment and then remember what was said to led up to it.The key technique in remembering what someone says is to gennuially listen and pay attention not letting any think else interfere with your listening. The better attention you pay and give then the more information you will actually remember.

Factors (Chapter 2)

What factors (characteristics of the speaker, contextual factors, characteristics of our own personality, etc) interfere with your ability to listen.

It depends on the situation and mood as to what interferes with my ability to listen. If I am sick then my ability is really gone because I am concentrating more on how bad I feel rather than what is being said to me. If something has happened and I am upset then I am more focused on what is upsetting me than what is being said to me. Sometimes the tv distracts me and I can not focus on listening to what someone is saying to me because I am to much into the show or game being showed. Majority of the time my friends interfere with my ability to listen to other people because they are either calling, texting, or just interrupting whatever is going on around me.

Group ethics (Chapter 1)

What are the most important ethical principals you think group members should observe, and Why?

I think first of all the most important is respect. If you do not respect the members of your group how can you expect to get anywhere. Trust is also something that is important. You can't be in a group and get work done if you don't trust the people of the group. Ethically you need to respect and demonstrate trust. If someone in the group tells you something than you need to not go and tell everybody what was shared with you.

Best Group (Chapter 1)

Describe the best group you've ever been in, and explain why it was such a good group.

I believe the best group that I have ever been in was in high school me and my best friend along with our adviser for DECA had a great group going. We did projects and went to competitions together. I think that this was such a good group because we were all so close and we respected each other and it was always a group decision, no one person decided anything it had to be all 3 of us before we would do it. We had a balloon business and a cake making business that we ran in order to raise the money we needed to go on trips to competitions. We did this for 3 years and each year our group made it all the way to Nationals and placed. We were the only group to ever do this so that has always been a great accomplishment for me. I do not think that we would have been so great and done everything we did if we had not gotten along so well.
